Cheekbone Reduction - Semi & 3D
Semi and 3D Cheekbone Reduction are procedure done to emphasize the contouring of your face.
Large, protruded cheekbones create an unnecessary harsh impression and an a seemingly larger face. This results in shadowing under the cheekbones and makes you look older than your current age. In such cases, there are two options of surgical procedures available to fit your specific needs. Semi Cheekbone Reduction is relatively a simpler procedure, reducing the size of the cheekbone by removing a small part of the bone, and reshaping the rest. 3D Cheekbone Reduction involves removing the cheekbone in order to lessen the protrusion.
MINAPLASTIC SURGERY’s Semi and 3D operation duration is around 1~2 hours. The operation duration could be changed depending on a patient’s health issues and the surgical situation and condition. The patient will be under the general anesthesia during the operation. After the surgery, the patient will stay in the recovery room for several hours to wakeup from the anesthesia and receive aftercare service served by MINA PLASTIC SURGERY. You will visit our clinic after 7 days of the surgery to remove stitches, receive aftercare and check-ups. You may start daily activities after 7 days of the operation. So, you are able to return to daily life when the stitches are removed. Dr. Cha suggests you avoid smoking for 2 weeks both before and after the surgery to prevent any side-effects from smoking.
Semi VS 3D
- Semi Cheekbone Reduction Surgery has only the sides of the cheekbones resected and pushed inward to reduce the overall volume of the cheekbones. This will give you a slimmer face line. This procedure is recommended to those who have projected side but not front cheekbones.
- The 3D Cheekbone Reduction Surgery reshapes and fixes the cheekbone. This will create a slim, 45 degree face line, and a sleek, voluminous face line from the side view. This procedure will work better for those who want to improve their overall cheekbone structure.

MINA PLASTIC SURGERY recommends Cheekbone Reduction procedure for those who have a hard time with their over protruding cheekbones. Cheekbones being too large may cause harsh impression, and make the face seem bigger. They may also cast shadow on the lower part of the face, creating an aged appearance. As Cheekbone Reduction at MINA PLASTIC SURGERY minimizes the amount of bone being removed, it is suitable for those who are reluctant of removing too much of them.

THE BEAUTIFUL BASELINE OF A BEAUTIFUL FACE
The bone structure and the outline are the ‘hidden cards’ of a beautiful face. They are less noticeable but play a huge part in making the face more beautiful. With the right angle, proportion, and symmetry, the bone structure and the outline of the face will provide a gorgeous canvas for other facial features to set in.
The ‘ideal’ proportion of the frontal face would be the ratio of 0.8:1:1:1:0.8. 0.8 indicating the space starting from the outer corners of your eyes, to where the face ends, 1 being each eye, and the nose. The desired vertical ratio tends to be 1:1:0.8~1, first starting from the hairline and ending right beneath the eyebrows, second from the eyebrows to the tip of the nose, and 0.8~1 being from the tip of the nose to the chin.
Dr. Cha of MINA PLASTIC SURGERY considers the proportion and balance of the face as his priority throughout the entire process – from the initial design to the actual operation. With his expertise built over numerous years of experience, Dr. Cha of MINA PLASTIC SURGERY will make sure he meets your needs, and leaves you satisfied with the result.
